Li Zhanshu attended launching ceremony for Mozambique project “Access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages” 2018-05-24 00:00:00   source:

On May 13 of local time, the grand launching ceremony for the China-Africa cooperation Mozambique  project "Access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages” was held in Marracuene village, Maputo city, capital of Mozambique. Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Li Zhanshu, along with over 270 China – Mozambique leaders and distinguished guests attended the launching ceremony.

At 10:20, on arriving at the ceremony, the delegation of Li Zhanshu were warmly welcomed by Mozambique Speaker Veronica Nataniel Macamo, Mozambique Minister of communications, Carlos Mesquita, governor of maputo province of Mozambique, Ramondo diumba, StarTimes President Pang Xinxing, etc..

On that day, the waving national flags of China and Mozambique, Marracuene villagers dressed up, ebullient African dances, capacious and pure white tent, bright – colored school, all the village was filled with festive atmosphere. The delegation of Li Zhanshu firstly watched the panels on the project "Access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages” while listening to Pang Xinxing introducing the project implementation in detail.

The launching ceremony was hosted by the famous radio hostess of Mozambique. She introduced honored guests present at the ceremony. Then Su Jian, Chinese ambassador to Mozambique, StarTimes President Pang Xinxing, Mozambique Minister of communications, Carlos Mesquita, governor of maputo province of Mozambique, Ramondo diumba made a speech successively.

After the speech made by the honored gusts, Chairman Li Zhanshu and Speaker Macamo walked together onto the stage to inaugurate Mozambique project "Access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages”. Meanwhile, the LED screen displayed the pictures of digital TV, which marked that Mozambique project "Access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages” was launched officially.

When the ceremony ended, all the honored guests came to visit Marracuene first primary school. Over 400 students welcomed the guests singing the delightful songs and waving the national flags of China and Mozambique. Pang Xinxing and the primary principal accompanied Li Zhanshu to visit the school.

During the whole visit, the Chairman watched very closely, and asked for some definite information, including the history of the school, the number of teachers and students, how many grades, and the means of having classes. When visiting the classroom, he saw the pupils watching attentively the Chinese cartoon “Boonie Bears”, which had been translated and dubbed into Portuguese by StarTimes. Knowing about all above, Li Zhanshu felt very glad, and then he wondered how many in all this kind of projection TV equipment StarTimes provided, and if all the villagers can see TV programs through that.

After the visit, Li Zhanshu said to Pang Xinxing, “I think StarTimes did a good deed, utilizing the modern media technology to spread Chinese culture, in fact, StarTimes has become the ambassador for cultural exchanges between China and Africa. Installed digital TV, as the Chinese saying, the village has owned “clairvoyance” and “omniscient”, which can help villagers understand the world, in my opinion, it is meaningful.” Then the chairman said to Mozambique Speaker, Macamo, I look forward to better cooperation between China and Mozambique, and more exchange projects can land on Mozambique.

Coming to the playground, Li Zhanshu gave the children bags, footballs as gifts, meanwhile, the children gave the pictures drawn by themselves to the chairman in return. Finally, the chairman surrounded by children, posed for a group photo.

The time for parting is coming, the children reluctantly bid the chairman a farewell with self-composed song, “Thank you, China”. The lyric is as follows: Thank you, dear China, Thank you, dear China, you bring us digital TV, make us understand outside world, we are very happy, I feel I’ll become a white pigeon, soaring in the sky.
